Alex Lawrence and Rod Gilfry's Daughter Carin Gilfry Engaged

Alex Lawrence & Carin Gilfry
The Barihunk family tree appears to be expanding, as Alex Lawrence has announced his engagement to Carin Gilfry, daughter of barihunk Rod Gilfry. Regular readers will know that Thomas Hampson's son-in-law is fellow barihunk Luca Pisaroni. Also, barihunks Jonathan Beyer and Brandon Cedel, as well as Dan Kempson and Zach Altman are couples. We're also pleased that we have happier news to announce for Carin Gilfry, who we last reported was in a car accident with fellow performer Daniel Okulitch.

Alex Lawrence is currently in Basel, where he will appear in Dvorak's "Rusalka," Bizet's "Carmen," and Berg's "Wozzeck." Here is Lawrence singing "Fin'che han dal vino" from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" in Philadelphia.

Gilfry & Turner Performing Elijah

Popular Barihunks Rod Gilfry & Randal Turner
If you're a fan of Mendelssohn's oratorio "Elijah" and you live on either U.S. coast, then you're in luck. Two of our most popular barihunks will be performing the work. Rod Gilfry will be performing the work with the San Francisco Choral Society at Davies Concert Hall on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27. Click HERE for additional ticket and concert information. Click HERE to read an interview with Rod Gilfry from the San Francisco Chronicle.

If you're on the East Coast or just need additional time to plan your concert going, Randal Turner will be performing the work with the Spring Choral Festival at the First Congregational Church of Greenwich in Connecticut. The performance is on Friday, May 4, 2012 and additional information and ticket information can be found HERE.

Here is Randal Turner singing "Der Munt're Hirt versammelt nun" from another oratorio, Haydn's "Die Jahreszeiten."

"Elijah" was written in 1846 for the Birmingham Festival. It depicts various events in the life of the Biblical prophet Elijah, taken from the books 1 Kings and 2 Kings in the Old Testament.
Here is a recent performance of "It is enough" from barihunk Alex Lawrence with the Fairfax Choral Society:
